Islam

Islam, followed by more than a billion people today, is the world's fastest growing religion and will soon be the world's largest. The 1.2 billion Muslims make up approximately one quarter of the world's population. The most populous Muslim countries are Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.The number of Muslims in Indonesia alone (175 million) exceeds the combined total in Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran, the traditional heartlands of Islam. Assalaam `alaikum (peace be upon you)

At the time of meeting a Muslim should greet some one with the words:  (Assalaam `alaikum) in Arabic language . ‘Peace be upon you (all)’  at English , The addressees should subsequently respond with the words:  (Wa `alaikum Assalaam). In Arabic way but in English ‘and upon you too may be peace’ These words are, in fact, a supplication for the addressee for peace and blessings during the life of this world as well as the hereafter. In search for the history of the area which includes the modern Israeli/Palestine territories, the recorded history shows a group of coastal cities and heavily forested mountains inhabited by a Semitic people, the Canaanites which are regarded as the first known inhabitants of this area, around 4000 BC. Beirut (the capital of Lebanon)
